BIO: The Bob developed partly out of the fish template revivals of the nineties and partly because of our bigger guys’ need for a sturdier small-to-medium wave shape. This is a design favored by stockier surfers because they find they rip with ease.

SPECS: Relaxed overall rocker and deep single concave into a fuller tail block, allowing for back-foot oriented surfing. This design promotes high speeds through flat sections and tight turning in smaller surf.

WAVE POTENTIAL: A perfect board between knee-to-slightly overhead.

REALITY CHECK: Fatter beach or reef break waves that plague even the better spots on their off days.

GREEN OR GURU? Both. Although this is a board that sustains faster, snappier surfing, it can also be very effective for a light-weight beginner learning to catch more waves and trim down the line with a high degree of stability.

CONFIDENCE BOOST: Bigger surfers buckle up, because you’re going to experience a heavy increase in velocity and turning potential. Smaller surfers, you’ll love the smooth planeing and full release off the deep single concave.
